Christmas Greetings - 2017

12.18.17 | Christmas | by Rick Laymon

    Dear Ones,

At this season of our Lord's advent, many of us at Capital find ourselves a geographic world apart from parents, siblings, and life long friends. We have traversed many miles, to arrive in this location of our Lord's choosing for us and for our families. Whether we are single or married, young or old, most of us find ourselves displaced from our roots of origin. The Bible is full of stories of displaced people, and how God used their travels to write history (His Story). Abraham was called away from his roots to a land that God was going to show him. Likewise Joseph, was sold into slavery by his own brothers and taken to a foreign land. Daniel and his friends were taken into captivity and relocated hundreds of miles from their homeland. Though these and many others like them were displaced by choice, command, or circumstance from their homelands, none were displaced from their "Heartland." Our heartland is the place where our hearts are rooted and grounded, the place from which our hearts draw life! Paul prayed in Ephesians 3, that Christ would "dwell" in our hearts through faith- that we, being "rooted" and grounded in love would be able to comprehend the love of Christ and be "filled" with all the fullness of God.

We at Capital are a family! We share the same Father, the same Savior, and are filled with the same Spirit. We are individually and mutually grounded in Christ, and though we are many members, we are but One Body. This Christmas season we may be displaced from our homelands but not from our "Heartland!" We invite each and everyone of you to join us for our Candlelight Service on December 22nd, and for our Christmas Worship Service on Sunday December 24th. We will celebrate the birth of our Savior through poems, scripture readings, carols, refreshments, and fellowship. Come one, come all to rejoice with us in this celebration of our Savior's advent. May His blessings be with you and your household in this most special season!

    Your brother,
    Rick
