A Season of Thanksgiving, surrounded by autumn leaves and a biting breeze, spurs us to find the warm hearth, the festive banquet table and beloved members of our community who make up all that Capital Community Church has been and can be. As we share a joyful meal, we acquaint ourselves with each other, cultivating grateful hearts and spirits overflowing with gladness for the family God has granted us.
In the same way that autumn’s golden leaves gradually gain their unique rich colors, each member of our congregation brings us a fresh slice of the glory that God has placed in each soul. As we relish God’s glory in each other’s presence, we discover how God is a God of today and tomorrow, even as He is a God of our Yesterdays.
“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His image with ever increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” - 2 Corinthians 3:18
So many characters involved in the original Christmas story. Each year, as Christmas approaches, Capital Community Church has explored what it was like to be Herod, Mary, Joseph, an angel, the innkeeper’s daughter…As a community, we gather to the tune of “Silent Night” to shine candlelight joy into the dark of night!
Unpacking the deep meaning of Christmas is a favorite theme for members of Capital Community Church as we celebrate together in our small groups, as a larger group and even online. Sometimes poetry, drama, or liturgy helps us to visualize all that Jesus did and continues to do in each of our lives. The love of Jesus knits our hearts together so that we have a home away from home, even when loved ones are unable to join us for the holidays.
